The number of people who received the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine in the first phase of the national campaign for immunisation reached about 27,000 with a coverage rate for the target groups reaching 95 per cent from the first dose. For the second dose, about 22,369 people were reached with a coverage rate for the target groups reaching 82 per cent.

A statement issued online by Oman News Agency (ONA), said: "The Ministry of Health is currently continuing to vaccinate those targeted in the first phase of the national campaign against Covid 19, with the vaccines by Pfizer-BioNTech and Oxford-AstraZeneca."

ONA added: "To date, the number of vaccinated people with the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine reached about 14,463 people, with a coverage rate of 20 per cent of the target groups. The vaccination of the target group with the first dose of the vaccine is underway."

"The Ministry has included a new target group for the second period of the first phase of taking this vaccine, which is the category of elderly people who are 65 years of age and over, regardless of the presence of a risk factor or chronic disease or not," the statement added.
