Oman’s Ministry of Health, will add a new target group in its vaccination campaign from the coming days. The addition of the new target group, which is part of a priority campaign intends to vaccinate some categories of expatriate workers for free due to their financial incapability to take the vaccine.

Local media news sources reveal that the Ministry has provisioned thousands of doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine to vaccinate this category.

The General Directorate of Health Services in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate issued an announcement about the availability of the first dose of AstraZeneca vaccine for those in this category who were above 18 years. The essential requisite for this category to avail this chance mandates them presenting their resident card at the vaccination centre.

Dr Ahmed Al-Saidi, Oman’s Minister of Health, had indicated at an earlier press conference that the Sultanate will not abandon expatriates who cannot afford the cost of the vaccine. He had stressed that the Sultanate will not leave a single person of the target groups without vaccination.

Oman recently started vaccination for ages twelve and above.
