Nasser Hussain Identifies Shubman Gill and Rachin Ravindra as Future Cricket Legends

Former England captain Nasser Hussain has selected two promising talents whom he believes will shape the future of world cricket.

In a video shared by the International Cricket Council (ICC), Hussain named Indian opener Shubman Gill and New Zealand all-rounder Rachin Ravindra as his picks.

Expressing confidence in Gill's potential, Hussain remarked, "He is a super talent and he is going to be the next sensation for India for years to come." Gill, who ended the year as the highest run-scorer in international cricket, scored 2,126 runs in 47 games at an average of 48.31, featuring seven centuries and 10 fifties across formats.

Hussain also praised Ravindra's standout performance in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, stating, "The man who lit the World Cup up was Rachin Ravindra." Ravindra accumulated 578 runs in the tournament, ending as the fourth-highest run-scorer with three centuries and two fifties.

Hussain observed Ravindra's capabilities during New Zealand's tour of England, expressing optimism about his continued success. Ravindra scored 911 runs in 37 international matches this year, with a batting average of 36.44 and a strike rate exceeding 110. Additionally, he took 23 wickets across all formats.

While acknowledging Ravindra's limited exposure in Tests and T20Is, where he mostly batted down the order, fans await his performance as a top-order batter in these formats. In ODIs, Ravindra has showcased his prowess with 820 runs in 25 matches at an average of 41.00 and a strike rate exceeding 108, featuring three centuries and three fifties.
