On Wednesday, November 29, 2023, the Earthquake Monitoring Centre (EMC) reported the detection of a 5.3 magnitude earthquake in the Wilayat of Shaleem and Al Hallaniyat Islands, Dhofar Governorate. The statement from Sultan Qaboos University's Earthquake Monitoring Centre (EMC) indicated that the seismic activity occurred at 1:05 AM MCT, at a depth of 4 km, and was situated 187 km northeast of Salalah.
