Utilizing satellite assistance, the Environment Authority (EA) team conducted eleven monitoring sessions on the Arabian Sea humpback whale, four sessions on the Bryde’s whale, and one session on the Indian Ocean humpback dolphin.

Furthermore, the team affixed a tracking chip to an Arabian Sea humpback whale first sighted in the Masirah Bay area in November of the previous year. This chip facilitated the observation of its behavior and movements over a span of six months.

In addition, four devices, equipped with extra sensors to record the whale's diving details through movement observation, were installed by the team.

The primary objectives included assessing fishing risks, devising solutions to reduce vessel-related accidents, and acquiring insights into the migration patterns and habitats of whales. The study, conducted at Masirah Bay, was a collaborative effort involving satellite technology and expertise from the Ocean Alliance Organization Inc., the Environment Authority, and Future Seas company.
