The Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion (MoCIIP) convened a collaborative meeting with governors to further advance ongoing efforts in enhancing the investment climate within the various regions of the Sultanate of Oman and to facilitate overall business development.
During this gathering, the Ministry reviewed the initiatives it has undertaken in areas such as trade, industry, specifications and standards, investment promotion, competition protection, and preventing monopolies. Furthermore, the Ministry discussed the measures it has implemented to streamline the investment environment in Oman, with the goal of attracting more foreign investments and enhancing incentives for businesses and investments.
The meeting also addressed several key topics, including local community businesses and their sectors, which contribute to the growth of regional areas and the management of traditional markets. Additionally, the initiatives of the National Program for Investments and Export Development, known as "Nizhar," were reviewed. The issue of hidden trade was also a topic of discussion.
These meetings underscore the collaborative efforts and coordination between relevant authorities and all governorates. Their aim is to achieve decentralization, which is expected to strengthen and advance the national economy. The involvement of regional governors, as well as their input regarding decisions and regulations being developed by the Ministry in the near future, are crucial components of this process. These efforts align with royal directives, emphasizing the pivotal role of governorates in driving economic development and creating an attractive investment environment. The approach is marked by providing essential services and facilities within the governorates, with a commitment to continued coordination and cooperation among various government agencies.
His Excellency Qais bin Muhammad Al-Yousef, the Minister of Trade, Industry, and Investment Promotion, stated, "These meetings are a direct result of royal directives aimed at ensuring governorates play a fundamental and central role in economic development by providing facilities and services that support local development. These ongoing meetings foster enhanced cooperation and coordination among government entities."
