Heavy thundershowers, accompanied by rainfall reaching 73 mm, were experienced in Salalah city and the surrounding mountainous regions yesterday, causing the emergence of flowing water in the valleys.
Abdullah Al Khadouri, the General Director of Oman Meteorology, expressed regret for the lack of prior warning about the rainfall in parts of Dhofar. He explained that there were no clear indications of such intense rain, especially as the weather conditions were expected to ease by Thursday. While some indications suggested minimal rainfall, they didn't forecast this significant quantity and intensity.
Acknowledging the feedback from the public, Al Khadouri assured that necessary steps would be taken to enhance and advance their forecasting methods.
