The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, through the General Directorate for Digital Transformation and Sector Empowerment, is executing a series of specialized workshops to implement the initial phase of the Unified National Portal for Electronic Government Services. The initiative involves the active participation of representatives from government institutions targeted in this initial phase.

The primary goal of this initiative is to efficiently and securely deliver government services to citizens and residents through a unified electronic gateway. Specialized workshops have been launched to engage relevant government entities in the initial phase of the project, highlighting the portal's crucial role as a centralized electronic gateway for users to access government information and services.

During the workshop, discussions revolved around the involvement of service providers in the unified portal. Key aspects such as documenting project details, maintaining crucial agreements and decisions, ensuring effective communication among stakeholders, providing necessary data and updates, coordinating internal portal project tasks, and adapting to evolving project requirements were emphasized.

In the first phase, priority services from various government institutions, including the Ministries of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, Housing and Urban Planning, the Royal Oman Police, among others, are targeted for inclusion in the unified portal.

The user experience within the portal is designed to offer clear guidance for completing services step-by-step, easy and quick searching of available government services, real-time tracking of user requests, and personalized dashboards. The workshop also addressed the criteria for selecting services in the unified portal, considering different maturity levels (electronic, semi-electronic, manual) and the impact of essential services on users' life paths.

Moreover, the session underscored the evaluation mechanism based on surveys to assess business and technical requirements at the service provider level.

The project's overarching objectives include establishing a unified portal that consolidates all government electronic services, providing a standardized user experience, delivering data-driven services with a strategic design based on data analysis, and digitizing manual services using embedded tools and communication technologies.
