The breathtaking tourism offerings of North Al Sharqiyah Governorate make it a magnet for visitors, drawing people from both within and outside the Sultanate of Oman, thanks to its varied landscapes, natural wonders, and distinctive locales.

Private sector institutions are being urged to organize tourism forums to spotlight the diverse ambiance and attractions of the governorate.

The North Al Sharqiyah Governorate branch of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry is taking the lead by arranging desert tourism in the Wilayat of Bidiya under the banner of the "Oman Desert Tourism Forum." Scheduled for launch on January 24, the event will feature the participation of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, along with several government and private entities.

Attended by officials from the investment and tourism sectors, representatives of travel and tourism companies, desert reserves, and project owners related to the desert winter season, the forum holds special importance as a pioneering initiative at the national level, according to Salah bin Salem Al Hajri, Chairman of the Tourism Committee of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry branch in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate.

Al Hajri stated that the "Oman Desert Tourism Forum" will shed light on various aspects of the desert tourism sector, including regulations, investment opportunities, cultural and social dimensions, and Gulf experiences.

He emphasized that the forum will showcase the tourism components, cultural and historic heritage, and diverse tourism patterns of the Sultanate of Oman's desert, underscoring its significance as a focal point for both local and international visitors. The announcement will be made in collaboration with other organizations.

Specialized Training Initiatives

In addition, qualitative initiatives are underway to launch specialized training courses in tourism media, targeting individuals in the North Al Sharqiyah Governorate region involved in the tourism field.

Al-Hajri revealed that preparations for the forum began early, involving discussions on the topics it will cover and the formation of committees responsible for organizing the event. The forum will feature working papers addressing investment opportunities, legislation, and the cultural and social dimensions of desert tourism.
