The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MoCIIp) has issued over 47,000 certificates of origin for locally produced goods.
In the first half of this year, a total of 47,736 certificates of origin were issued for local products exported to various regions, as reported by statistics released by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion. Specifically, these certificates were distributed as follows: 40,177 certificates for Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, 7,381 certificates for Arab countries, 83 certificates for EFTA countries, and 95 certificates for Singapore.
The Ministry clarified that these certificates encompass a wide range of products, including agricultural, animal, industrial, and natural resources certificates. To streamline the export process and assist investors, factories, and Omani companies, certificates of origin for local products destined for GCC countries are made available through the "Invest Easy" electronic portal, ensuring efficiency and time-saving benefits.
Furthermore, the Ministry encouraged national businesses, including Omani entrepreneurs, small and medium-sized enterprises, Omani and non-Omani investors, artisans, and productive families, to leverage the economic and free trade agreements established between Oman and its trading partners. These agreements offer preferential treatment and advantages to those exporting products bearing certificates of origin.
It's important to note that certificates of origin serve as proof of the Omani origin of various products, granting exporters certain benefits and preferential treatment, such as exemptions from customs duties in accordance with the agreements concluded between Oman and its trading partners.
