On Saturday, the Sultanate of Oman strongly denounced the ongoing massacres and war crimes committed by the Israeli occupation forces against the Palestinian population, which includes the deliberate targeting of civilians and healthcare facilities.
Particular incidents highlighted in this condemnation include the horrifying and brutal attack on the Osama bin Zaid School, an institution affiliated with UNRWA located in the northern Gaza Strip. This school had provided refuge to hundreds of Palestinian families seeking safety from the destructive bombardment by the Israeli occupation forces. Additionally, the statement addressed the recent bombing of Al-Fakhoura School, also affiliated with UNRWA in Jabalia, as well as an assault on the entrance to Al-Nasr Hospital for children in western Gaza and an attack on a public water tank that supplied several neighborhoods east of Rafah, situated in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.
In a communication released by the Foreign Ministry, Oman underscored the necessity for a profound awakening within the international community. This awakening is grounded in moral, legal, and humanitarian responsibilities, aimed at putting an end to Israel's blatant recklessness and disregard for international laws and conventions. Oman called upon the International Criminal Court to establish a tribunal to investigate war crimes committed against the Palestinian people in Gaza and to bring those responsible to justice.
The ministry's statement emphasized the urgent need to immediately halt this brutal conflict, which the international community must not ignore. It called for a resolute stance against ongoing Israeli transgressions targeting innocent and defenseless civilians and urged the facilitation of swift delivery of essential humanitarian aid to these individuals.
Oman reiterated its commitment to international resolutions and its steadfast position on the Palestinian issue. It reiterated the call for Israel to withdraw from all occupied Palestinian territories, adhering to the 1967 borders, and to support the Palestinian people in establishing their independent state, with East Jerusalem as its capital. This should be achieved through the principle of a two-state solution, in accordance with international law.
