The Omani film "Al Darrooj" clinched the Best Screenplay Award at the Cinemakinah Days festival in Tunisia, triumphing over 22 films in both the fiction and documentary categories.

Directed by Humaid bin Saeed Al Amri, "Al Darrooj" emerged victorious among entries from 16 countries, such as Tunisia, Palestine, Sultanate of Oman, Libya, Mauritania, Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Morocco, Cuba, Rwanda, Pakistan, South Africa, Canada, and Iran. The fourth edition of the "Cinemakinah Days" spanned four days and concluded in El Moknine on Tunisia's eastern coast, drawing the presence of poets, filmmakers, artists, and writers. The event unfolded within the walls of the House of Culture adorned with the poetic works of Mahmoud Darwish.

The festival, founded by Tunisian director Younes Ben Hajria, aimed to seamlessly blend the realms of cinema and poetry, showcasing a unique fusion that mirrors the diversity of visual and linguistic arts. Notable for its curated selection of films addressing issues poetically, the festival featured a film competition alongside special screenings in solidarity with the Palestinian cause. Noteworthy entries included the animated film "Shireen" by Iraqi director Zaid Shukr and the film "Farha" by Jordanian director Marine Salam. Various workshops enriched the overall program.

The short fiction film "Al Darrooj" has enjoyed a global journey, participating in over 40 festivals worldwide and garnering numerous accolades. Among its honors are the Jury Award from the Digital Portal Festival in Algeria, the Best Screenplay Award from the Oulad Taima Film Festival in Morocco, and the Best Actress Award for its lead, Habiba Al Salti, from the Racoda Asian Film Festival in the Arab Republic of Egypt. Recently, the film secured four international awards from Indian festivals, including the Best Screenplay, Best Direction, and Best International Short Film Awards.
