Ayham Abdullah Al Shukairi, an Omani student, has received recognition for his innovative approach aimed at enhancing water efficiency and reducing the costs associated with oil production. He was honored with the 'Steam Award for Creative Ideas' during the UNESCO Schools event, part of the National Science and Technology Week in the Sultanate of Oman.

Al Shukairi's innovation is centered around optimizing the use of water in the oil production process. His inspiration came after a visit to an oilfield in the Nimir region, where he carefully studied the operational aspects and identified opportunities for more efficient water utilization in conjunction with oil extraction.

His project consists of two key components. The first part involves the design of turbines to generate electricity within the pipelines, while the second part focuses on water treatment for purification. In this process, water is collected in expansive basins exposed to sunlight, facilitating the acceleration of the evaporation process. The result is distilled water and separated salts.

Al Shukairi believes that his groundbreaking approach will significantly reduce production costs and enhance the overall efficiency of oil extraction processes. He envisions that this project will provide innovative solutions on a global scale, improving oil production techniques worldwide.

Furthermore, he emphasized that this initiative aligns with their future vision, as they are planning to implement a prototype to simulate real-world conditions. They have already conducted numerous virtual reality-based processes, allowing them to test and refine both the first and second aspects of the project.
