On Sunday, December 24, 2023, His Highness Sayyid Theyazin Bin Haitham Al Said, the Minister of Culture, Sports, and Youth, assumed the role of the principal patron at the inauguration of the 2023 Municipal Councils Symposium.

Organized by the Ministry of Interior, the two-day symposium is designed to encompass four sessions, each featuring the presentation of six working papers. These papers comprehensively assess the evolution of municipal council activities, drawing insights from specialists, council members' visions, and proposals aimed at enhancing their work.

Sheikh Dr. Shihab bin Ahmed Al Jabri, Advisor to the Minister of the Interior for Legal Affairs and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Symposium, expressed the Ministry's dedication to achieving the symposium's objectives through the presented working papers. These papers address the developmental and societal aspects entrusted to members of municipal councils for the advancement of governorates, with due consideration to avoiding overlap with the jurisdictions of other councils and institutions.

Furthermore, His Highness Sayyid Theyazin Bin Haitham Al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports, and Youth, officially launched the "Tanmia" application, developed by the Ministry of Interior. Serving as a digital interface for municipal councils, the application establishes a link between Omani society and municipal councils in various governorates. Its primary purpose is to enhance communication, transparency, and trust between individuals and institutions, ultimately contributing to sustainable development and the improvement of municipal operations.
