The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology (MTCIT) in Oman has called upon all white and orange taxi services operating in public spaces within the Sultanate to register with approved applications by January 1, 2024. These authorized applications, including OmanTaxi, OTaxi, Marhaba, Hala, and Tasleem, were announced by the Ministry.

The initiative, operating under the Land Transport Law and its associated regulations, aims to optimize benefits for taxi proprietors by leveraging the technologies embedded in these applications. It allows for user tracking and travel path monitoring while prioritizing privacy and security. The program is structured in phases: the first targeting taxis at airports, followed by those in hotels, commercial centers, and ports starting from November 1, 2023. The third and final phase, commencing on January 1, 2024, encompasses all white and orange taxis operating in public areas.
