The Sultanate of Oman actively participated in the 43rd session of the Council of Arab Ministers for Social Affairs in Cairo. During the meeting, the Council approved the establishment of an extraordinary temporary fund, initially for a six-month period and subject to renewal, aimed at providing support and assistance to over 350,000 families in the Gaza Strip.

Oman's delegation, led by Her Excellency Dr. Laila bint Ahmed Al Najjar, Minister of Social Development, played a key role in the discussions. The three-day session resulted in the decision to create the temporary fund, with a focus on addressing the immediate needs of families in Gaza.

The ministers engaged in a symposium on "Implementing the strategy of the Arab Summit in its 30th session for the elderly, between capabilities and challenges." Additionally, they worked on formulating a modern Arab strategy for developing statistics. The meeting urged member states to share their national strategies and plans for poverty eradication policies, promoting the exchange of experiences and knowledge among member states. There was a call to ratify the statute of the Arab Center for Social Policy Studies and Poverty Eradication in accordance with established systems.

Among the meeting's agenda items were preparations for the seventeenth session of the Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, scheduled for June 11 to 13, 2024, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. The ministers discussed supporting the rights of persons with disabilities in the face of epidemics and crises and laid the groundwork for the World Summit on Disability (2025-2028).

The session concluded with the approval of various draft resolutions addressing key issues on the agenda."
