The influence of tropical storm 'Tej' is forecasted to persist in the Dhofar and Southern regions of the Al Wusta governorates until the afternoon of Tuesday, October 24, 2023, as stated by Oman Meteorology.

This tropical storm made landfall in the Al Mahra governorate in Yemen, with the wind speed near its center estimated to be between 50 to 60 knots. Over the next few hours, there will be heavy rainfall and strong winds prevailing in the Dhofar governorate and the southern parts of Al Wusta.

The coastal and mountainous areas of the Dhofar governorate will continue to experience significant rainfall, causing wadis to flow.

The most severe impact is expected to persist in the Dhofar and Southern parts of the Al Wusta governorates until this afternoon. Heavy rainfall of 50-200 mm is anticipated, leading to the possibility of flash floods, along with fresh to very severe blowing winds at speeds of 30-50 knots. The sea is also expected to be very rough, with wave heights ranging between 5-8 meters. Additionally, there may be sea water inundation in low-lying coastal areas.

The Civil Aviation Authority strongly advises everyone to exercise maximum caution, refrain from crossing valleys, and avoid low-lying areas. It is also recommended to steer clear of the sea during this period for safety reasons.
