The Ministry of Health (MoH) has introduced a system to validate sick leave documents issued by private healthcare facilities in Oman through the electronic health portal.

Paper-based sick leave certificates from private health institutions will no longer be processed or approved by the General Directorate of Private Health Institutions.

Patients who receive sick leave from private health facilities will benefit from this system. Previously, these certificates required approval from the ministry before submission to other authorities.

The portal allows immediate approval for two-day sick leaves. However, for leaves exceeding two days, a nominal fee of two riyals is charged, which can be conveniently paid online. The approved certificate can then be printed from the private health institution. Alternatively, patients have the option to pay later by following a link received via text message.

The system verifies the patient's ID details through the portal, eliminating the need for a doctor or institution signature. Sick leave validation is facilitated through a QR code, ensuring accuracy and adherence to protocols.
