
Engineer Sultan bin Abdul Rahman Al Murshid, the CEO of the Saudi Fund for Development, detailed that the Fund initiated its support for numerous development projects in the Sultanate of Oman in 1977. These projects encompassed various sectors, including infrastructure, transportation, education, health, water resources, and energy development projects.
In an interview with the Oman News Agency, His Excellency explained that the total financial assistance provided by the Saudi Fund for Development in the Sultanate of Oman has exceeded 11 billion Saudi riyals, which is equivalent to 1.1 billion Omani riyals. He expressed his optimism about the ongoing development collaboration between the Fund and Oman.
Furthermore, he highlighted that the Fund recently inked an agreement to finance infrastructure construction in the integrated economic zone in Al-Dhahirah, amounting to approximately 1.2 billion Saudi riyals. His Excellency noted that the project is scheduled to commence in the first quarter of 2024.
Engineer Sultan Al-Murshed emphasized the significance of the integrated economic zone in Al-Dhahirah, stressing its role in enhancing trade relations, fostering specific industries, and promoting partnerships between sectors to facilitate the exchange of goods and products. This cooperation aims to reduce production costs and facilitate exports between the two brotherly nations.
Regarding the marine fishing port in Duqm, the CEO of the Saudi Fund for Development clarified that the Fund allocated 500 million Saudi riyals for the establishment of the fish industries complex in the marine fishing port within the Special Economic Zone in Duqm. He also mentioned the successful completion of the port's infrastructure development.
