The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Social Development, is set to commemorate Omani Women's Day on October 17. This year's celebration highlights the themes of culture and literature and spans three days, taking place at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre from October 15 to 17. The festivities commenced on Sunday with a poetry recital titled 'A Woman from the Homeland,' performed by the North Al Sharqiyah Governorate, the host of this year's event.
The celebration features a range of activities, including a folklore performance themed 'Gratitude to the Women of Oman' and an exhibition showcasing 'National Manuscripts and Documents.'
On Monday, there will be a panel discussion centered around a novel titled 'Stars in the Sky of Omani Literature' and a theatrical presentation by the A'Rustaq Theatre Group under the banner 'Elect Me (the female).'
The concluding day of the Omani Women's Day celebration will feature the honoring of 30 women who have excelled in the domains of culture and literature, particularly in the realms of poetry, drama, novel writing, and the preservation of manuscripts and national documents.
An operetta comprising four acts, inspired by Omani literature and culture, will be performed by a group of Omani poets. The closing ceremony will also involve the introduction of initiatives aimed at supporting Omani women and empowering their role in advancing society.
