A person has been arrested by the Royal Oman Police (ROP), for smuggling and possession of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.

A statement issued online by ROP said: "North Al-Batinah Governorate Police Command arrested a person of Asian nationality on charges of smuggling and possession of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances in conjunction with international gangs with the intention of trafficking and abuse. ROP seized from his possession 30 kilograms of crystal drug and legal procedures are being completed against him."

"The ROP thanks citizens and residents for their cooperation in combating the scourge of drugs by reporting any information that helps detect smugglers and promoters by calling the Hotline of the General Administration for Combating Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances 1444 or going to the nearest police station."
