A senior official from the Ministry of Health has reported the detection of the JN.1 variant of COVID-19 in multiple cases in Oman. Speaking to the Times of Oman, the official confirmed that the majority of these COVID patients experienced mild infections, and all have successfully recovered.

Reassuring the public, the official stated, "The Sultanate of Oman remains vigilant, implementing necessary surveillance and preventive measures year-round. The global spread of the new JN.1 variant of COVID-19 does not pose a significant risk to public health."

Furthermore, the official highlighted that the JN.1 COVID-19 variant is an intriguing mutation characterized by mild symptoms. At present, there is no notable increase in hospitalization rates in intensive care units or general wards.
