Oman Airports is set to host the groundbreaking 'Aerohack from Oman Airports' event on October 17, 2023, at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (OCEC). This event, marking the first of its kind in Oman, is exclusively dedicated to nurturing innovative concepts within the airport sector. The primary objective is to draw a select group of forward-thinking individuals, including innovators, tech developers, designers, students, emerging businesses, SMEs, and university students. Through this initiative, Oman Airports seeks to underscore its national commitment to projects that foster innovation in the realm of transportation while forging promising collaborations with trailblazers in this field.
Aerohack's focus encompasses various innovative themes and topics, such as reimagining passenger experiences and airport operations, the future of airport entertainment, marketing and communication excellence, customer loyalty programs, as well as solutions geared towards automation, efficiency, and cost reduction. A significant emphasis is placed on sustainability, expanding transportation options beyond the airport, and elevating safety, security, and digital privacy—areas where the participating teams present their creative ideas.
The registration process for participating teams commenced in July 2023. After evaluating the submissions, the top 50 creative ideas were shortlisted, with subsequent communications to nurture and further develop them for resubmission.
The second phase of selection took place in September 2023, where the best 15 ideas were chosen, and these teams underwent intensive workshops to refine and reshape their concepts.
The 15 qualifying teams for the event's finals will partake in a two-day immersive experience before the program's conclusion. During this period, they will participate in workshops and receive specialized guidance from experts in the fields of idea development and commercial projects, all leading up to their final presentations before the event's judging panel on the second day.
The 'Aerohack from Oman Airports' event will culminate on the following Wednesday under the patronage of His Excellency Engineer Saeed bin Hamoud Al Maawali, the Minister of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology (MTCIT). At this juncture, the top three ideas will be chosen as the winning entries.
It's noteworthy that 'Oman Airports' will undertake the responsibility of adopting the winning ideas by incorporating them into specialized programs for business and commercial project development. This process aligns with the organization's ongoing efforts through the 'Al Madarj' program—a dedicated laboratory for nurturing and endorsing emerging projects
