Oman is working towards providing quarter of a million doses of Covid-19 vaccine by end of this month, according to His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Al Hosni, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Health Affairs said.

Speaking to Oman TV about the latest developments on vaccinations he said: “The Sultanate is working to provide about a quarter of a million doses of Corona vaccine by the end of this month.”

He confirmed that the Sultanate has a more stringent system in choosing vaccines. “There is no direct relationship between the AstraZeneca vaccine and the blood clotting cases that occurred in some people in some countries.”

“The vaccine will be widely available next summer, and the period between the two doses has been extended to 10 weeks,” Al Hosni pointed out.

“The Ministry is working to provide over five million doses by end of this year,” he said.

Al Hosni also said talks are in place about issuing health passport that will ease travel. "There is a plan to use a health passport to travel between countries, which is under study,” he said. Al Hosni also expected normal life to return by end of this year.
