Public Prosecution Says Bounced Cheques Most Common Crime In Oman

Over 7,000 cases of cheques being dishonoured due to lack of funds were registered with Public Prosecution in 2021, making it the most frequent crime registered in Oman, the Public Prosecution said on Monday.
Dr. Ahmed bin Said Al Shukaili, Assistant Public Prosecutor said a total of 7,143 cheque cases were registered in 2021, followed by crimes of information technology and electronic transactions with 2,894 cases. “Cases related to bank cheque emerged most frequently committed crime in the Sultanate,” he said.
In 2020, 4,949 cases related to cheques were registered with the Public Prosecution.
