The Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Ankara, Republic of Turkey, said that Istanbul Airport has announced the postponement of all flights until 1 pm.

The embassy, through a tweet, called on all citizens traveling to and from Istanbul airports to communicate with airlines to confirm the new dates of their flights.

An Oman Air flight bound for Istanbul Airport had to change its course and land at Ankara Airport on Monday as Istanbul Airport had to be closed due to the intensity of the snow wave. The flight had 77 passengers on board, and it is expected that the weather conditions will change and Istanbul Airport will be opened to air traffic.

On Monday, the embassy confirmed that there is no detention of citizens at Turkish airports, explaining that the delay or suspension of flights comes as a result of bad weather conditions and the accumulation of snow.

The embassy stated that the Turkish authorities announced the suspension and postponement of a number of flights due to the weather conditions. Turkish Airlines has announced the cancellation of 36 scheduled flights to and from Istanbul Airport, and 31 scheduled flights to and from Sabiha Gokcen International Airport in Istanbul, on Tuesday, due to bad weather.
