The Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority (CDAA) has officially confirmed its preparedness to address the tropical situation known as 'Tej'. The authority has placed its departments in the Dhofar and Al Wusta governorates on high alert in anticipation of the potential effects of this weather event.

Lieutenant Colonel Engineer Mohammed bin Hamoud Al Mahmoudi, the Assistant Director General of Operations and Training at the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority, explained that given the announcement of the weather situation in the Arabian Sea and the expected impact on the Dhofar and Al Wusta governorates, the department has bolstered its resources with additional personnel and specialized vehicles for search and rescue operations.

In addition to this, they have equipped their teams with boats, jet skis, and an array of tools and supplies. Furthermore, they have strategically deployed five advanced response points in the Dhofar Governorate and three points in the Al Wusta Governorate to ensure the swift arrival of rescue teams in the affected areas.

Al Mahmoudi emphasized that the search and rescue sector, as well as the hazardous materials handling sector under the Authority's jurisdiction, are closely monitoring developments and coordinating efforts to maximize their capabilities.

He urged both citizens and residents to strictly adhere to instructions issued by the relevant authorities in order to safeguard lives and property.

The Assistant Director General of Operations and Training also noted the existence of an awareness plan aimed at educating citizens and residents about the risks associated with floods and the precautions they should take. These guidelines are disseminated through the Authority's websites and social media. He implored everyone to exercise caution, avoid taking unnecessary risks, steer clear of low-lying areas and slopes, refrain from spreading rumors, and pay attention to official warnings and announcements.

The Director of the Consumer Protection Department in Dhofar Governorate underscored the stability of prices in the region's markets and emphasized heightened monitoring of businesses to detect any violations. Legal action will be taken against violators through field work teams.

The Authority has also set up a call center with toll-free numbers (80077997 - 80079009) to receive reports and take appropriate measures to address violations. They call on everyone to demonstrate a cooperative and united spirit during this time.
