Oman's Foreign Minister, Sayyed Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, in a recent phone call with his United Kingdom (UK) counterpart, James Cleverly, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Development of the UK, emphasized the critical need for taking concrete and practical actions to halt the conflict in Gaza. The ministers discussed the urgent requirement to establish humanitarian corridors in order to address the dire humanitarian crisis faced by the civilians in the Gaza Strip.
During their conversation, the two ministers exchanged perspectives on the ongoing Israeli military escalation in Gaza, which has resulted in an increasing number of civilian casualties. They underlined the importance of upholding international law, ending the cycle of violence, and reinforcing the international community's commitment to achieving a comprehensive peace settlement based on the two-state solution.
Furthermore, Oman's Foreign Minister expressed strong condemnation for the Israeli occupation forces' targeting of the Jabalia camp in the Gaza Strip, an incident that resulted in the loss of lives and injuries to numerous civilians. He called upon the United Nations Security Council to promptly intervene and put an end to the crisis, as well as the inhumane practices conducted by the Israeli authorities against the Palestinian population.
