Friday Prayers In Oman Suspended For Two Weeks

Friday prayers in mosques have been suspended for two weeks, starting from January 23 to February 5, the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs( MERA) said on Sunday.
In a statement issued by MERA said based on the decisions of the Supreme Committee, five daily prayers will be continued to be held in mosques with a 50% capacity.
In the wake of rising coronavirus cases in Oman, the Supreme Committee took stringent measures including reducing the government employees at workplace to 50%.
Meanwhile, MERA said Quran classes affiliated with the Ministry will be held through the distance education system or reducing the capacity to 50% of the school’s total strength as per the terms of the competent authorities.
