In the southern region of India, an 'incident' has resulted in a minimum of one fatality and critical injuries to two individuals, as reported by the state minister of Kerala on Sunday. Regional media organizations have described the event as a 'blast' that occurred at a Jehovah's Witnesses hall located in Kalamassery, in the vicinity of the port city of Kochi within the state of Kerala.
The exact cause of this explosion in Kalamassery has not been disclosed. Kerala's Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan, relayed to the press, 'One individual has tragically lost their life, while two others are in critical condition, with additional individuals currently receiving medical care.' He further added, 'We are actively in the process of gathering further details.'
The Press Trust of India (PTI) news agency documented several 'blasts,' numbering at least three, at a convention center in Kalamassery during a Sunday morning prayer meeting. Nevertheless, the PTI did not provide specific information about the cause of these incidents. Assistant Police Commissioner P.V. Baby, speaking to AFP, confirmed the regrettable death of one woman and revealed that five other individuals had suffered substantial burns due to flames that erupted during a three-day prayer gathering attended by around 2,500 people.
