A relative of an Indian expatriate in Oman who won OMR 2 million in a lottery held in Abu Dhabi says he plans to share this among seven other people who tried their luck with him.

MV Abdussalam, who owns many businesses in the town of Rustaq, won the Big Ticket lottery worth AED 20 million, and according to his brother, could not initially believe he had won the jackpot, and took some convincing before he realised he was indeed the winner of the impressive cash prize.

“Abdussalam and seven of his friends decided to purchase these lottery tickets, and it was agreed that whoever would win the prize would share it with the others,” said one of his brothers, who own restaurants and supermarkets in the country. “It is quite a sizeable amount that they have won – about OMR 250,000 per head.

“Of course, I am very happy for him,” he added. “He works very hard all day so this is a deserving reward. I have always believed that god will take care of us and reward hard work, and I believe this is proof of that.”
