The Wali of Muttrah and Chairman of the Municipal Affairs Committee and the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), have inspected the site of the fire that broke out last Friday evening at Al Wadi Al Kabir.
OCCI said in a statement: "His Excellency Mr. Ahmed bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Wali of Muttrah, Chairman of the Municipal Affairs Committee, and His Excellency Eng. Ridha bin Jumah Al Saleh, Chairman of the Chamber, together with their Excellencies the members of the Shura Council and the Municipal Affairs Committee in the wilayat, inspected the site of the fire that broke out last Friday evening in Al Wadi Al Kabir.
"The fire caused severe damage to property, and their Excellencies witnessed closely the damage to the site of the fire and discussed the causes, the development of the area of the fire and the size of the damage that resulted from it. It was agreed on the importance of finding appropriate future solutions to protect the industrial area in cooperation with the competent authorities."
OCCI added: "It was also agreed to prepare a comprehensive report to know the causes of the fire and the problems and obstacles it produced in front of business owners and owners of industrial facilities, and it will be submitted to His Excellency the Governor. Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry will prepare a complete and urgent study on the current situation of the industrial zone and how to avoid future dangers and the importance of studying the facilities' commitment to insurance and security and safety rules."
"It was also agreed that the study would address the regulations that must be followed in the future in the industrial zones, which could contribute to protecting the facilities from risks and disasters, with the participation of a number of competent authorities."
