During discussions on Clause (73) of the International Court of Justice's report, the Sultanate of Oman conveyed its stance before the United Nations General Assembly. Oman asserted that the Palestinian people possess the right to self-determination and emphasized the importance of peaceful dispute resolution, discouraging the use of force.

Second Secretary Mohammed bin Ali Al Shehhi, a member of Oman's permanent delegation to the United Nations in New York, stated, "Oman remains committed to the principles and Charter of the United Nations, which include respecting international norms and laws, refraining from interfering in the internal affairs of nations, settling disputes through peaceful means, and avoiding the use or threat of force. Oman also supports international cooperation and dialogue."

Oman underscored its backing for the Court's contributions aimed at upholding international law provisions and established United Nations Charter principles, along with its support for enhancing the relationship between various United Nations committees, particularly the International Court of Justice, which serves as the organization's primary judicial body.

Oman also expressed its support for United Nations General Assembly Resolution No. 247/77, adopted on December 30, 2022. This resolution requested the International Court of Justice to provide an advisory opinion on the legal consequences resulting from Israel's ongoing violation of the Palestinian people's right to self-determination.

The presentation questioned Israel's long-standing occupation, settlement, and annexation of Palestinian territories since 1967, examining the legal implications of Israel's policies and practices for all nations and the United Nations.

The Government of Oman submitted a written statement to the International Court of Justice in The Hague, in accordance with United Nations General Assembly Resolution No. 247/77, which sought an advisory opinion on the consequences of Israel's continued violations of the Palestinian people's right to self-determination. This confirmed Oman's unwavering support for the Palestinian people's right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
