Inbound tourism spending in the Sultanate has increased to over OMR 2 billion in the past four years, part of the current five-year plan.

A statement issued online by the Oman News Agency (ONA), said, "An increase in inbound tourism spending in the Sultanate in the past four years of the current five-year plan to OMR 2.3 billion , compared to OMR 1.2 billion in the previous five-year plan (2011-2015)."

"The direct added value of the tourism sector last year recorded an increase of 4.1 per cent to reach OMR 717.9 million, compared to OMR 689.4 million in 2018."

"Statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) showed that the contribution of tourism to the gross domestic product (GDP) in 2019 increased to 2.5 per cent, compared to 2.2 per cent in 2018."
