As many as 110 horse riders, representing 12 countries, will contest the second round of Oman Masters International Showjumping Championship, which will be organized by Mojo Equestrian Centre (Barka) on 28 and 29 January 2022.

This was unveiled today at a press conference held in Olympic Committee and Sports Associations premises in Al Ghubra (Muscat).

Khalid Mohammed Al Saifi, Director of Equestrian Activities Department (Oman Equestrian Association), said that the one-star championship will be held in pursuance of a partnership between Oman Equestrian Association and private stables, both local and international.

Al Saifi explained that the Association accords significance to Olympic sports, notable showjumping. He welcomed the competitors, wishing them an enjoyable experience.

Meanwhile, Hassan Mahboob Hashmani, CEO of the Showjumping Championship, said that the second round sees an increase in participating countries representing Oman, Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, Britain, the United States, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Canada, Italy, Iraq and Morocco. The first round of a female riders championship will be held in preparation for a future GCC female horse riders championship, he added.

On his turn, Majid Hamad Al Hassani, Technical Director of the Showjumping Championship, said that the tournament will be held in accordance with the laws accredited by Oman Equestrian Association. This international championship paves the way for an Arab competition in November 2022, he said, noting that the event comes within the context of Group 7 contest in which the riders strive to gather points to qualify for international Olympics and championships.
