Omani French Friendship Association (OFA) has appointed Sulaiman Al Harthy, CEO of Alizz Islamic Bank as its new president of the board.
All present board members, as well as the French Ambassador to Oman who is an honorary member of the association, paid tribute to the former president, Sheikha Hind Bahwan, for her role which was instrumental in establishing OFA as a major bilateral association and her continued involvement.
The board also welcomed a new member, Sergio Giorgi, new managing director of Total Energies in Oman, as well as two new committee members – Fatma al Barakat and Bechir Chehab, managing director of JC Decaux in Oman.
After an busy agenda in the fall 2021 including a board meeting, an Inspirational Women of Oman conference, a gastronomic event at the French Residence for Goût de France, a presentation on VAT in November, followed by a conference on adventure tourism in December, OFA has drawn out a calendar of activities for 2022. The first half of the year will include three conferences – on perfumes in February, on digital transformation in March within the fourth edition of French Week, and on energy in May – as well as social and cultural events, with a networking cocktail in January, a traditional iftar in April and a live music performance ‘Fête de la musique’ in June.
OFA is a non-profit organisation that aims to provide a platform to promote friendship, understanding and matters of mutual interest between French and Omani businesses and social communities active in the sultanate.
The members of the board of the association are Sulaiman al Harthi, CEO, Alizz Islamic Bank; Erwan Rouxel, contracts representative, Veolia; Sheikha Hind Bahwan, founder and chairperson, Bahwan Cybertek Group; Talal Said Marhoon al Mamari, CEO, Oman Telecommunications Company SAOG; Nailesh K Khimji, director, Khimji Ramdas; Mohammed al Kharusi, group director – Business Development, Mohsin Haider Darwish LLC; Saleh Zakwani, executive chairman, Apex Press & Publishing; Shawqi Sultan; and Sergio Giorgi, managing director, Total Energies.
