The Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation and the Oman Society for Petroleum Services (OPAL) have signed a cooperation agreement to conduct free medical tests of students travelling abroad for the academic year 2020/2021.

"The agreement was signed by His Excellency Dr. Bakhit bin Ahmed Al Mahri, Undersecretary of the Ministry for Higher Education, and Abdul Rahman bin Humaid Al Yahyaei, CEO of the Oman Society for Petroleum Services (OPAL), and this agreement comes within the framework of activating joint cooperation between sectors in the areas of social responsibility, a statement issued online by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation said.

"As part of the agreement, the association will provide free Covid-19 tests for students on scholarships at one of the medical centre dedicated for tests. It targets 600 students on foreign scholarships for the year 2020/2021 according to the lists specified by the Ministry."

The General Directorate of Scholarships will send these lists to the specialists in the association to help guide students to the right health centre. The student must visit 72 hours before the travel date or as per any new travel controls set.
