In July this year, 9 babies were born in the Sultanate every hour, statistics show. Oman recorded 220 new births daily during the month.

According to the National Center of Statistics and Information (NCSI), by end of July, the number of live births in the Sultanate this year reached 45,435 including 6,828 babies who were born in July.

3,105 of the 6,828 are males while 3,093 are female. 3,867 children belong to expats.

From January until the end of July 2020, the number of deaths in the Sultanate reached 5,539, which is equivalent to 64.5 per cent of the total number of deaths (8,581) in the Sultanate last year.
