Pharaoh’s Solar Boat Moves To New Museum

The pharaonic solar boat of ancient King Khufu was transferred to the Grand Egyptian Museum near the well renowned Giza Pyramids.
The boat which is 4,500 years old and weighs 20 tons was discovered in 1954 at the southern corner of the Khufu Pyramid, the largest of the three Giza Pyramids.
Before now, the boat has been exhibited at a museum at the Giza Plateau, which has been closed since August to prepare for the transportation.
The ten hour trip the boat took is aimed to preserve the old historic artifact for future generations, the Africa news reported.
