The Oman Meteorology department reported that this evening, there is a possibility of thunderstorms in multiple governorates of the Sultanate of Oman. The affected regions are expected to include South Al Batinah, Al Dakhiliyah, Muscat, North Al Sharqiyah, and South Al Sharqiyah Governorates, with the potential for these conditions to extend to the coastal areas along the Oman Sea.
The meteorological agency in Oman also noted that the expected rainfall during these thunderstorms may range from 10 to 30 millimeters. This heavy precipitation could lead to reduced horizontal visibility, downdraft winds reaching speeds of 20-25 knots, and an increased risk of valleys overflowing.
In response to these weather conditions, authorities have advised the public to stay clear of low-lying areas and strongly discouraged swimming in valleys. Additionally, they have emphasized the importance of monitoring children and ensuring they stay away from valleys to safeguard their well-being.
