
South Al Batinah Governorate is gearing up to entice tourists from both within and outside the Sultanate of Oman as the winter season kicks off from October to April's end. Al Muatasem bin Nasser Al-Hilali, Director of the Department of Heritage and Tourism in the South Al Batinah Governorate, anticipates robust tourism activities owing to collaborative efforts from government bodies, including the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism. This includes promotional campaigns, marketing initiatives, and participation in local and international exhibitions to boost the tourism sector.
Al Hilali highlights the diverse and abundant tourist attractions spread across the governorate's wilayats. These attractions encompass scenic beaches, mountains, valleys, water springs, plains, and desert landscapes. Additionally, the area boasts historical landmarks such as castles, forts, falaj systems, mosques, and ancient archaeological dwellings.
Various unique sites are dotted throughout the South Al Batinah Governorate. Notable among these is Khibat Al-Jaadan - Ramlet Al-Abyad, located in the Wilayat of Nakhal, attracting visitors interested in local sports and international four-wheel-drive racing.
Additionally, temporary winter camps are set up to relish the desert ambiance. Many valleys in the governorate offer water and scenic waterfalls, further enhancing the allure for tourists.
Al Hilali notes that during the winter season, South Al Batinah becomes a haven for tourists seeking tranquility. The region hosts heritage inns in villages and wilayats, providing restful green spaces and a range of tourist services. Higher altitude villages present cooler temperatures, seasonal agriculture, and mountain trails.
The governorate boasts 31 green inns, utilizing agricultural land for tourism, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and service, while also offering expansive green areas. Heritage lodges, characterized by traditional architectural designs, provide accommodation, preserving Oman's architectural heritage.
