The Sultan Qaboos Comprehensive Cancer Care and Research Centre (SQCCCRC) has acquired international accreditation to offer the Acute Life-Threatening Events Recognition and Treatment (ALERT) training course.

This course is designed to educate healthcare teams from various professions in a systematic approach to identifying, treating, and escalating care when necessary to safeguard the patient's life.

In partnership with Portsmouth Hospital University Trust – UK, SQCCCRC has successfully conducted ALERT® training, attended by 29 staff members, with 12 of them achieving certification as trainers.

ALERT involves a structured and prioritized approach to patient assessment and management, allowing for a preemptive response to critical illness. It trains staff to recognize signs of impending clinical deterioration, manage disordered physiology, and address other aspects of acute care delivery.

This accomplishment underscores SQCCCRC's dedication to professional development and collaboration with other institutions. The newly certified trainers are now poised to contribute their expertise, enriching skills and knowledge within SQCCCRC and benefiting healthcare providers in Oman and the broader region.

SQCCCRC plans to organize periodic ALERT® course training and certification, with registration open to participants from health institutions both within and outside the Sultanate. The program's focus is on detecting and managing threatening events in healthcare institutions.
