On Tuesday morning, the Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) Board of Directors convened for its third meeting of 2023 at the OOC headquarters, with Khalid bin Mohammed Al-Zubair, OOC Chairman, leading the proceedings. Al-Zubair commenced the meeting with a welcoming address, expressing gratitude to all attendees for accepting the invitation. He then turned to discuss the recent participation in the 19th Asian Games, held in Hangzhou, China, from September 23 to October 8. Seven teams represented Oman in various sports, including athletics, sailing, hockey, beach volleyball, maritime sports, shooting, and weightlifting.

The Board lauded the achievements of the sailing team, comprising sailors Walid Al Kindi and Musaab Al Hadi, who secured a historic silver medal in the 49-boat competition, marking Oman's first silver medal in Asian Games history. Additionally, Hussein Al Farsi was celebrated for clinching the bronze medal in the 800m competition, marking the first time Oman secured two medals in the same Asian Games tournament. The Board expressed appreciation to the technical, administrative, and medical staff for their invaluable contributions and guidance to the medal-winning athletes.

The Board recommended honoring the medal-winning players and called for a thorough technical assessment of athletes' performance in the tournament. A comprehensive technical report addressing any challenges hindering athletes from achieving their expected results is expected to be submitted within one month.

Subsequently, discussions centered on various agenda items and priority topics for the upcoming period. The minutes of the second Board of Directors meeting held on August 8, 2023, were approved, along with a review of the implemented decisions and recommendations.
