The second meeting of 2023 for the Executive Committee of the Integrated Economic Zone in Dhahirah governorate took place in Duqm on Tuesday. The committee session was presided over by H.E. Ahmed bin Hassan al Dheeb, Vice President of the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones, who serves as the Committee Chairman.

The primary focus of the meeting was the current operational status of the joint Omani-Saudi company responsible for managing and operating the economic zone. The committee delved into discussions about infrastructure development plans for Dhahirah's integrated economic zone, emphasizing the importance of local value addition and targeted investment opportunities. They also reviewed the latest updates regarding the zone's establishment, which includes proposed incentives and facilities.

Several key topics were addressed during the meeting, including plans for managing and operating the region's land port and customs station, as well as the development of an integrated commercial center designed to serve both Omani and Saudi companies.

Officials from the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology of Oman, as well as the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Investment Promotion of Saudi Arabia, were in attendance.

The committee plays a vital role in formulating a comprehensive development plan for the economic zone, overseeing the progress of various programs and initiatives, and facilitating the establishment of the Omani-Saudi company. Additionally, the committee is committed to promoting the exchange of knowledge and best practices in economic zone management between Oman and Saudi Arabia.

There are also plans in motion to host seminars aimed at introducing business owners and investors to the opportunities available within the economic zone in both countries
