
Late on Monday night, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, and his spouse arrived in Muscat for an official visit to the Sultanate of Oman. Welcoming President Steinmeier and his delegation at the Royal Airport was H E Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidi, the Foreign Minister.
Present at the airport to receive him were also H E Eng Saeed bin Hamoud al Ma’awali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, who heads the Mission of Honour; H E Dr Rahma bint Ibrahim al Mahrouqi, Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation; H E Maitha bint Saif al Mahrouqi, Oman’s Ambassador to Germany; H E Dirk Loelke, Ambassador of Germany to Oman; and members of the German Embassy in Muscat.
Accompanying the President is an official delegation, including Dr Tobias Lindner, Minister of State at the German Federal Foreign Ministry; Wolfgang Silbermann, Foreign Policy Advisor to the German Federal President; and several other German officials.
This visit will center on matters of mutual interest between the two countries, aiming to contribute to the realization of their shared interests and aspirations, and provide a platform for consultation on current regional issues.
