The Unified Gulf Tourist Visa has gained unanimous approval from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, as announced by Jassim Mohammed Al Budaiwi, Secretary General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf. The announcement took place during the 40th meeting of the GCC Interior Ministers in Muscat, Oman.

Al Budaiwi praised the Unified Gulf Tourist Visa as a significant achievement, highlighting its manifestation as a result of the close cooperation and wise directives of the GCC leaders. Additionally, at the meeting, Gulf interior ministers inaugurated an electronic system that connects traffic violations across GCC countries.

Emphasizing the importance of the electronic linkage of traffic violations, Al Budaiwi stated that it is a strategic initiative contributing to traffic safety goals. He emphasized that the newly established system would provide a wide range of unified traffic services to citizens across GCC countries. Al Budaiwi underscored the notable progress and prosperity achieved by GCC countries at various levels, gaining recognition for development efforts and enhancing the well-being of Gulf citizens. He stressed the necessity of maintaining national security and deterring any threats that could hinder the region's continuous progress.

Expressing concern over the increasing prevalence of drugs in GCC countries, Al Budaiwi called for collective action to address this issue among the region's youth. He advocated for a unified strategy encompassing prevention, control, and treatment of drug-related problems. Al Budaiwi commended national campaigns and the dedicated efforts of security personnel in combating drug-related challenges, recognizing their pivotal role in safeguarding GCC countries from the threat posed by drug abuse, especially among the youth and society.

The meeting also discussed various crucial security issues, including the potential formulation of a comprehensive Gulf strategy to combat drugs and the launch of security awareness campaigns.
